The Importance Of Mentors In Hunting

Mentors are hard to forget in life. There’s always a lot to learn and we have to navigate it all somehow. Hunting is one of those times that having a mentor makes it easier to learn. My first hunting mentor was my old boss, Tony. That is where my passion for waterfowl began. I was … Continue reading The Importance Of Mentors In Hunting →

What You Should Know About Duck Calls.

Have you ever gone to a sporting goods store and looked at buying a duck call? Waterfowl hunting is synonymous with retrievers and duck calls. It seems like no matter what video you watch or magazine you read you always see pictures of a hunter with his duck dog and a call lanyard full of … Continue reading What You Should Know About Duck Calls. →

Fish Springs Part 2

This plan worked out well, the jump shoot didn’t have much. I lost another duck in the reeds, but we moved on and set up on one of the ponds. We had about 2 more hours of shooting time and we set up on the same spot we had shot our pintail hens earlier in … Continue reading Fish Springs Part 2 →

Jump Shooting Ducks

The weather in Utah can make hunting very temperamental. Sometimes the weather is freaking hot and we are getting eaten alive by mosquitos and soaked in sweat, and other times the ice shows up out of nowhere and we get to watch birds fly right over us and make their way to Arizona and Mexico. … Continue reading Jump Shooting Ducks →

Earplugs Equals No Ducks

As of right now we only have one month left of waterfowl hunting, so my mind is starting to change directions and I want to try and get Kaela on at least one more big hunt. I also want to get her shooting her new shotgun, so this meant a hunt was on the horizon.

I’ll Take A Teal But No Ice.

Waterfowl and winter go hand in hand in my mind. First, fall comes to mind as the start of bird season. We can chase grouse and dove and all of that is a big warm up for the best time of year, waterfowl season. December has come on full force with winter. We didn’t even … Continue reading I’ll Take A Teal But No Ice. →

First Time Shooting Her Stoeger P3000

One thing you should know about us is that we are horrible at keeping secrets from each other and especially if the secret involves a gift. Lately I have been working a lot of overtime since we have a wedding and holidays to pay for. This worked out well when Black Friday came around.

Not the reeds again!

Losing birds and losing my mind. This was not a trip to brag about but we still loved it.

It was cool getting off of a cruise and seeing my article got published. Go check it out! @project_upland
When habitats meet. I was hoping for a mixed bag of pheasant and ducks that day but instead I got stuck in the mud scouting out on of my duck spots #pheasanthunting #uplandhunting #mixedbags #waterfowlhunting #waterfowl
It’s been a bit but I need to get back out in the marsh before we leave on our cruise. Let’s hope the warm up hasn’t messed everything up. #utahwaterfowl #utahwaterfowlhunting #nofilter #waterfowlhunting #marsh
I never thought that my earpro would make a difference in hunting. If I hadn’t hear the ducks flush I would have come home empty handed. @decibullz is the way to go. Let me know if you want more info.
This is how I choose to start my days sometimes. Putting some boot leather down chasing birds.
I had to take this picture. I was just by an overlook anyways and I wanted to catch a picture of the mountain that was casting shadows over my spot. If I had a spotting scope I would have tried looking for animals on those rocks
